HOW IT WORKS
Balanced B Complex, a vegetarian-friendly formula, provides an array of B vitamins that support nervous system function and may improve mood.
WHY BALANCED B COMPLEX?
The B vitamin family has eight members: thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folate and cyanocobalamin. These nutrients work in harmony to help your body convert the food you eat into energy. But your body can’t store B vitamins. They have to be replenished daily. One tablet of Balanced B Complex provides more than 150% of the Daily Value for all eight B vitamins. And for seven of these nutrients, it offers at least 300% DV. We scour the globe to source our vitamins from the very best companies. And this vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free formula is no exception.
THE STORY BEHIND VITAMIN B COMPLEX, BALANCED
In 1934, Hungarian doctor Paul György discovered a substance that seemed to get rid of severe lesions in rats on a highly controlled diet. He named it Vitamin B6. In 1938, Samuel Lepkovsky isolated this substance from rice bran, and pyridoxine was born!
About 100 years ago, researchers found that a diet high in liver helped people with pernicious anemia. Later, they theorized that an “intrinsic factor” was missing in these diets. It was a glycoprotein that formed a complex with vitamin B12. This vitamin was isolated and then later crystallized in the laboratory of future Nobel Prize winner Dorothy Hodgkin.
Biotin was identified by Vincent du Vigneaud and his fellow scientists in 1942. They observed that farm animals fed raw eggs developed hair loss, muscle issues and skin inflammation...in other words, a biotin deficiency. This was due to a protein in raw eggs that binds to biotin and quells its enzymatic activity.
Chemist Roger J. Williams discovered pantothenic acid in 1931 while studying the B vitamin family.
