FEVER

There are numerous herbs that can be used to treat fevers. Fevers usually subside after the bowel is opened with an enema, especially in young children. To help reduce fever, catnip or garlic tea can be used as an enema solution.

When taken as warm teas or extracts with warm water, herbs that promote perspiration can also be used to reduce fevers. Herbs that have proven useful in this situation include yarrow, peppermint, chamomile, catnip, and capsicum. When taken as a hot tea, yarrow is especially beneficial for high fevers.

Boneset is an excellent herb for fever and bone pain caused by the flu. (It is a component of ALJ.) For fevers or fevers that alternate with chills, IF-C is an excellent formula. High Effectiveness Garlic is another product that can help with fevers, particularly those caused by bacterial or respiratory infections.

When taken as warm teas or extracts with warm water, herbs that promote perspiration can also be used to reduce fevers. Topically, essential oils can be used. Dilute them in water, then soak a washcloth in the aromatic water and gently sponge the feverish person.
